Title: Best mis-heard cable lyric.
Post by: Greg on August 09, 2012, 12:42:03 am
Everyone know Cable lyrics are some times tricky to work out. Looking at everyone trying to crack each songs code is good fun. So what's the best mis-heard Cable lyric everyone's workout?

The one song that i've noticed all my friends seem to get wrong is HexagonEye, this is mainly weird as the clue is kind of in the title for the song. I have genuinely lost count of how many people think the lyrics are 'i spy flies with my super fly guys, looking out for me with your fly guys' (obviously they are idiots)

I don't know, seeing other people signing along to cable songs is not a sight i have witnessed in a long time...

"Buy me a new cat's face" always makes me chuckle :)

Brothers and Sisters - There's too much in lasagne.

Oubliette - F***ing eat your face. (Or 'in your face'.)

Once I've heard something wrong I find it hard to not hear it again!  :-[

The problem with Cable lyrics is that what I think I've misheard could well be the actual lyrics!  But anyways, on I'm Always Right I hear:

"Safestyle Windows but with numbers"

Could it be that the Cable guys wrote a song about getting new double glazing?  It's certainly possible...

Hello hello...just registered (possibly just to say) - 'Take a badger for a walk' - dead wood for green
I may post again someday, massive cable fan but missed it all first time round on accounts of being about 10!

welcome along!  how did you discover cable, through an older relative?

always good to know younger people might still discover the cable goodness.

Not actually sure to be honest- found an mp3 of Ultra Violet on my computer a couple of years ago, thought it worth investigating further. did not regret that decision! Still though, 15 minutes of their set from halfway up the balcony at the Coronet only left me wanting more, so I'll be at the Garage for sure. Hoping for more of this in the future!

Hey,

Does anyone have the lyrics to obliette? since the cable gigs it's cemented in my head, would be great to actually have the right lyrics when i'm singing in the shower, and rocking out at the Garage this Sat

Cheers

Kev

Oubliette has the perhaps the most impenetrable lyrics of any cable song. In fact the only lines i know in that song are "concrete in your veins" and "change your mind for the very last time, salt water reptile dancing with a friend of mine" I seem to recall some forum members had a bash at it in the lyrics section if that helps

Its something like "I locked the front door from the inside, threw the key from the top of a vertical incline. Impacts with no bounce at all, you can't rob banks with your pockets so small" You were very close though ... apart from the wanking stuff.

The Cable songs that have always annoyed me with their impenetrable lyrics are -

1 Horse Drawn And Quatered - I have never been able to work out one single word in this song. I remember Pete saying that one Cable song says "death to Alan Mcgee" in the chorus and i think it might be this one.

2 Electro Gazelle - Seriously, what the fuck is he saying over and over near the end of the song? It sounds like Mappering everyday but thats clearly retarded and wrong.

3 Oubliette - I know roughly 9/10 words in this whole song

4 Apparently - Apart from "yeah i'm lost on the ground, you should see what i have found" and "and you can't see past yourself" i don't know any of the words in this song and i'm not even sure that any of those are right.

When we started the lyrics thread pretty much all of the songs got done except these, so it would seem that everyone else is unsure about these also

Isn't Electro Gazelle 'Mad for it every day'? I always thought that song was about Oasis and their fans: 'Listening with their ears closed, swaggering through the cloud'.
